Physical Design Process, Methods & Tools Placement (12 months)

About the role

Start date 19 July 2027, 12‑month placement in Stevenage within Airbus Defence and Space’s Mechanical Design Office, supporting the Physical Design PMTD team on the Digital Design and Manufacturing Service improvement project.

Key responsibilities

• Specify, develop and document process changes for deploying new toolsets such as 3DExperience and Catia V6.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design and implement leaner, more efficient workflows.
• Contribute to digital transformation by optimising end‑to‑end processes through digitalisation.
• Prepare and present a final report to department managers and key stakeholders at the end of the placement.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate degree and will remain a student for the full placement.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate confidently with stakeholders at all levels.

Required skills

• Experience or knowledge of CAD/CAM tools, preferably Dassault System tools (Catia V5/V6, Delmia, Apriso).
• Some programming skills (VB, VB.NET, PHP, MySQL, C#).
