Platform Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer (Hybrid, Aberdeen or London)

About the role

We are looking for a Platform Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer to deliver secure, reliable and high‑performing infrastructure services that support critical business operations. The role covers both on‑premise and cloud environments and will be based in Aberdeen or London with a hybrid working model.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain servers, storage, virtualization (VMware, Citrix, Hyper‑V) and backup & recovery services across on‑premise and cloud platforms.
• Administer UNIX, Windows and cloud environments (Azure, AWS) and support private, hybrid and public cloud storage technologies.
• Monitor performance, ensure security, stability and capacity, and proactively resolve system issues.
• Provide technical guidance for IT projects and collaborate with development, security and digital teams on platform enhancements.
• Support disaster recovery planning, resilience improvements and ITSM processes.
• Maintain operational documentation, asset inventories and ensure compliance with HSE and cyber‑security standards.
• Manage vendor relationships and act as a conduit between technical teams and business stakeholders, including on‑call support when required.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a subject‑matter expert in operational infrastructure support.
• Strong knowledge of Azure and AWS cloud environments and associated tooling.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Citrix or Hyper‑V.
• Background in regulated, complex environments such as oil & gas (preferred).
• Understanding of ITIL practices and enterprise ITSM frameworks.
