Primary PE Coach / HLTA – Manchester (Term‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Level 3+ Teaching Assistant or HLTA with a strong background in sports and physical education to join a primary school in Manchester (M9) for a term‑time only position starting September 2026. The role combines classroom PE delivery, extracurricular sport coordination, pupil wellbeing support and occasional cover duties.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver PE lessons across all primary year groups, planning, assessing and evaluating each session.
• Support active play and lunchtime physical activity for pupils.
• Run after‑school sports clubs on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
• Assist school teams and manage sporting fixtures.
• Help organise Sports Day and other sporting events.
• Maintain and manage PE equipment and resources.
• Develop relationships with local schools and community partners.
• Provide nurture and mentoring interventions and promote physical health, fitness and wellbeing.

Required profile

• Level 3 sports or coaching qualification (or higher) and minimum two years’ experience supporting children’s sport.
• Experience working with children who have experienced ACEs and ability to support behavioural, emotional and social needs.
• GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English, Maths and Science.
• Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one.
• Knowledge of a wide range of sports and flexibility to support fixtures and extracurricular activities.
• Proactive, organised and able to work independently while contributing to the wider team.
