Principal/Associate River Engineer

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Principal/Associate River Engineer to join its UK Water team. You will lead high‑quality delivery of nature recovery, re‑wilding and river restoration schemes across the UK and internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Design and supervise river and wetland restoration, re‑meandering and geomorphology projects.
• Prepare detailed engineering designs, safety documentation, work schedules and specifications for contractors.
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and other statutory requirements.
• Manage contractor supervision, construction works and overall project delivery.
• Collaborate with regulators, water companies, wildlife trusts and developers throughout all project stages.

Required profile

• Proven experience in environmental and river engineering for nature recovery schemes.
• Strong understanding of hydromorphology, geomorphology and river modelling.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and maintain client relationships.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.
