Quality Engineer – Construction & Defence Projects

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join the KierBAM Joint Venture team at the Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining quality assurance and control processes across a high‑security defence and nuclear redevelopment project.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute inspection and testing procedures to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Conduct root cause analysis and support problem‑solving activities throughout the construction phase.
• Monitor construction processes, review documentation, and verify that materials and products meet required standards.
• Support audits, quality system implementations, and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes.
• Collect and analyse quality data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Professionally qualified or graduate with quality‑related qualifications and experience, preferably in ISO standards.
• Previous experience in a similar role within the nuclear or defence sectors.
• Holder of a CSCS Green Labourer card.
• Ability to obtain BPSS security clearance (passport from NATO or MISWG member country and five years UK residence).
