Quality Inspector

About the role

We are recruiting for a specialist engineering and manufacturing organisation that produces high‑precision mechanical components for maritime, energy, environmental and defence sectors. The role is a hands‑on quality inspection position based in Hampshire, where you will ensure that machined parts and assemblies meet strict drawing, specification and certification requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect mechanical parts and assemblies from in‑house machining and subcontractors.
• Use manual inspection tools and 3‑axis ABERLINK AXIOM CMM equipment, including programming when required.
• Verify components against engineering drawings, specifications and certification requirements.
• Conduct PMI testing and chemical etching as needed.
• Identify and report non‑conformances, raise reject reports and escalate quality issues.
• Liaise with engineers and suppliers to resolve quality issues and support supplier visits and audits.
• Inspect coils, cables, battery packs and assemblies for visual and functional conformity.
• Maintain inspection equipment, ensure calibration compliance and update the ERP system (Syspro) with inspection results.

Required profile

• Experience in an engineering or manufacturing inspection role.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience using mechanical inspection tools such as gauges and micrometers.
• Exposure to CMM inspection (ABERLINK) and basic programming of CMM equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
• GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
