R&D Engineer – Mechanical Design & Development

About the role

We are seeking a mechanically‑minded R&D Engineer to join an innovative engineering and technology organisation. You will work in a collaborative environment, contributing to the full product development lifecycle from concept through to prototype testing and manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Generate bespoke solutions to customer requirements, including CFD analysis where appropriate.
• Manage individual projects, creating 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.
• Raise purchase orders for materials and equipment and oversee prototype build and testing.
• Develop test plans, conduct lab‑based prototype tests, and design test rigs using 3D CAD.
• Commission test equipment and liaise with Production/Manufacturing Engineering to define new manufacturing processes.
• Support the Sales department and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Maintain 5S housekeeping targets in controlled areas.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (desirable but not essential).
• 3‑4 years of experience in design, development and manufacturing environments.
• Inquisitive mindset with a passion for research and development.
• Familiarity with CAD tools for 3D modelling and 2D drawing creation.
• Knowledge of electronics thermal‑management technology.
