SEN Teaching Assistant – Birmingham

About the role

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs across schools in Birmingham. The role involves working closely with teachers, SENCOs and families to help children achieve their academic and personal potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH and learning disabilities.
• Assist teachers in delivering inclusive lessons and adapting resources.
• Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development.
• Implement EHCP targets and behaviour‑support strategies.
• Promote independence, confidence and positive learning experiences.

Required profile

• Patient, compassionate and positive attitude.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to obtain or hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
• Experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable.
• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
