SEN Teaching Assistant – September Start, South Birmingham & Solihull

About the role
Hays Education is seeking compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistants and 1:1 Support Assistants for primary schools across South Birmingham and Solihull as the new academic year begins in September. You will work within inclusive school environments, helping pupils with additional learning, behavioural, emotional or physical needs to achieve their potential.
Key responsibilities
- Provide tailored one‑to‑one or small‑group support to pupils with SEND.
- Collaborate closely with class teachers, SENDCo and other support staff.
- Assist with autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language, and SEMH interventions.
- Adapt learning activities and strategies to meet individual needs.
- Support pupils in building confidence, independence and social skills.
Required profile
- Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or similar role.
- Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (CACHE, NVQ or equivalent) is desirable.
- Patience, empathy and strong communication skills.
