SENCO for Special Secondary School (Key Stage 3‑4)

About the role
The school is seeking an experienced SENCO to lead and develop SEND provision for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils with autism and moderate learning needs. You will work closely with senior leaders, teachers and external agencies to create a structured, nurturing environment that supports each learner’s progress.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee and update Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and conduct annual reviews.
- Collaborate with teachers to design differentiated, high‑quality teaching strategies.
- Monitor student progress and coordinate appropriate interventions.
- Provide training, guidance and best‑practice advice to staff on SEND matters.
- Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals to ensure cohesive support.
- Contribute to whole‑school improvement and inclusive practice initiatives.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a recognised SENCO qualification.
- Proven experience in a SEND or specialist setting, particularly with autism and moderate learning needs.
- Experience supporting Key Stage 3 and 4 students.
- Strong organisational, leadership and communication abilities.
- Proactive, compassionate and collaborative approach.
Required skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- SENCO qualification.
- Knowledge of autism and moderate learning needs.
- Experience with EHCP management.
