SEND Teaching Assistant – 1‑1 Support in South Birmingham

About the role
We are looking for an empathetic SEND Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1‑to‑1 support for a student with additional needs in South Birmingham. This full‑time position offers the chance to work closely with the classroom teacher and SENDCo to ensure the pupil accesses the curriculum safely and confidently.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver personalised 1‑1 assistance aligned with the pupil’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
- Collaborate with the class teacher and SEND coordinator to monitor progress and adapt learning materials.
- Promote a calm, inclusive classroom environment and support positive behaviour using de‑escalation techniques.
- Assist in preparing and organising resources to remove barriers to learning.
Required profile
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND (e.g., ASC, ADHD, SEMH, SLD) is highly preferred.
- Relevant teaching assistant qualifications (Level 2 or 3) are advantageous but not essential.
- Compassionate nature with the ability to build rapport quickly.
- Enhanced DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
