Senior Architectural Manager – SEND Projects (Seconded to HCC)

About the role

Mace is recruiting a Senior Architect for a seconded position supporting Hampshire County Council (HCC) property services. Embedded within HCC’s in‑house multidisciplinary design team, you will help develop and deliver a growing portfolio of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) projects across mainstream schools. The secondment runs until September 2027 with the possibility of extension.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multiple concurrent SEND projects, from feasibility through construction.
• Deliver compliant designs, documentation and BIM‑driven models.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary and external partners, leading design workshops and stakeholder engagement.
• Oversee programme, risk, and stakeholder reporting, ensuring milestones and statutory compliance.
• Mentor project teams, assure quality, and support procurement and tender processes.
• Drive sustainability, safety and high‑quality outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Act as the primary technical contact for HCC stakeholders during construction and change phases.

Required profile

• Part 3 (or equivalent) qualification and ARB registration with significant post‑qualification experience leading projects from feasibility to delivery.
• Proven ability to work embedded within a client team and build lasting relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong project leadership, self‑sufficient drawing and technical skills, and experience preparing planning and tender documentation.
• Comfortable coordinating multidisciplinary inputs and supporting contract administration/site delivery.

Required skills

• AutoCAD proficiency (Revit desirable).
• BIM principles and implementation.
