Senior Electrical Design Engineer (MEP)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical design and technical delivery of a variety of projects, primarily retail developments, from our Central London office. You will work closely with architects, project managers, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure designs meet client expectations, industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop single‑line diagrams, wiring schematics, layouts and perform short‑circuit calculations and protection coordination.
• Design lighting systems, including emergency lighting (BS 5266) and control strategies.
• Integrate ELV, fire alarm (BS 5839), CCTV, access control, data networks and EV charging infrastructure.
• Lead the design of HV/LV distribution, earthing, lightning protection and load assessments, producing detailed electrical drawings.
• Collaborate with contractors, suppliers and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with codes and safety regulations.
• Review and approve technical documentation and provide support during construction and commissioning.
• Mentor junior engineers and oversee design implementation across the Group.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in an integrated engineering consultancy or specialist electrical engineering firm.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related building services discipline.
• Proven experience producing NBS specifications, schedules, cost estimates and technical reports.
• In‑depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations (Part P, L, F) and IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
• Practical experience applying BREEAM standards and Net Zero Carbon frameworks.
• Chartered Engineer status is optional but welcomed; professional proficiency in English required.
