Senior Java Developer – eDV Required

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to join IBM Consulting UK FutureNow, supporting public sector and defence clients. You will design, develop and maintain high‑quality Java/JEE applications using modern web technologies, delivering secure and reliable solutions that meet complex enterprise requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java/JEE applications and web components using frameworks such as Spring.
• Apply enterprise development practices including dependency injection, inversion of control, aspect‑oriented and functional programming, and test‑driven development.
• Implement secure and efficient data access with appropriate frameworks and transaction management.
• Integrate solutions with existing enterprise and legacy systems within public sector and defence environments.
• Participate in DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and version control.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues to ensure reliability and service quality.
• Collaborate with analysts, testers, architects and fellow developers, providing technical guidance or mentorship as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience developing applications with Java and JEE technologies.
• Familiarity with public sector or defence domain is advantageous.
