Senior Legal Counsel (Interim) – Financial Markets

About the role

This interim senior legal counsel position sits at the intersection of financial markets and the public sector, providing high‑impact advice on debt issuance, capital markets and treasury activities. You will work closely with senior risk, finance and leadership teams in a hybrid London‑based role.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on debt capital markets, bond issuances and treasury transactions.
• Provide legal support for derivatives and financial instruments, with particular focus on ISDA and GMRA documentation.
• Interpret and apply financial services regulation and emerging market developments.
• Navigate public law and legislative frameworks relevant to financial activities.
• Draft and review lending, fund management and commercial contracts.
• Support high‑profile debt issuance programmes and fast‑moving strategic projects.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer (England & Wales) or equivalent.
• Experience in financial markets, derivatives, regulation or public law.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work independently.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset.
• Willingness to obtain SC clearance if not already held.
