Trainee Legal Counsel – Structured Development Programme

About the role

This is a structured two‑year trainee programme within the in‑house legal team of Essar Energy Transition. You will start in Mayfair, London for the first year and relocate to Cheshire for the second year, gaining hands‑on experience while studying for the SQE.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and review basic legal documents and contracts.
• Conduct legal research and provide concise summaries.
• Track project matters and maintain legal administration records.
• Support senior lawyers on commercial and operational matters.
• Assist with day‑release study to complete the SQE, balancing an 80/20 work‑study split.

Required profile

• Entry‑level legal qualification (LLB or equivalent).
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Motivated to build a career in commercial/corporate law.
