Senior Manager, Medical Affairs – Optometry

About the role

The Senior Manager, Medical Affairs will lead scientific communication and evidence‑support activities that respond to commercial business needs. Based in Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh (moving to Nursling, Southampton), you will translate commercial priorities into compliant, scientifically robust outputs while ensuring alignment with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review scientific materials—including publications, abstracts and presentations—based on commercial and professional affairs priorities.
• Oversee the Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS) programme, identifying strategic gaps and prioritising studies in collaboration with Commercial, Clinical and R&D teams.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert for In‑Market Assessments, ensuring scientific validity of findings.
• Conduct medical reviews of promotional and educational claims, providing balanced, compliant guidance.
• Prepare technical memos, data‑on‑file documents and executive summaries to support commercial strategies and regulatory requirements.
• Support Commercial and Professional Affairs in KOL engagement, competitor challenge responses and off‑label inquiry handling.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with global brand, regional marketing and commercial teams while maintaining strict compliance boundaries.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Professional Affairs or related clinical/scientific roles, preferably within medical devices.
• Demonstrated ability to translate commercial needs into scientific communication.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance standards for medical claims.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
