Senior Product Owner – Technology Development

About the role

Transport for London is seeking a Senior Product Owner to lead the delivery of key digital products within its Technology Development team. You will translate complex business needs into clear, actionable work packages for Agile development squads, ensuring high‑quality software that supports millions of journeys across the city.

Key responsibilities

• Own the product backlog for assigned systems, defining acceptance criteria and prioritising stories in line with business objectives.
• Collaborate with developers, testers and stakeholders to refine requirements and keep delivery pipelines efficient.
• Support user acceptance testing, monitor performance, and resolve issues post‑release.
• Act as the subject‑matter expert and ambassador for the product, providing constructive feedback on proposed solutions.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across online, revenue and corporate application domains.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Product Owner in an Agile environment, preferably within large‑scale public‑sector or technology organisations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex requirements into clear user stories.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to drive product quality and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Agile software development methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Product backlog management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
• Understanding of digital payment systems, customer portals, or CRM platforms is advantageous.
