Senior Project Engineer - Stress

About the role

Join Airbus Belfast as a Senior Project Engineer (Stress) to lead the structural integrity, airworthiness strategy and regulatory compliance across cutting‑edge aircraft development programmes. You will provide technical and commercial leadership to core and subcontract stress engineers, driving design, development and certification of optimized composite and metallic airframe structures.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and commercial leadership to core and subcontract stress engineers on composite and metallic structures.
• Lead stress activities supporting design development and certification, including project definition, planning and budgeting.
• Establish enterprise‑wide modelling standards and govern structural test campaigns.
• Interact with customers and certification authorities to ensure compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
• Review and approve drawings, DDS and certification reports, and take part in design reviews.

Required profile

• BSc/BEng degree with at least 3 years of stress engineering experience including management responsibilities (or HNC/HND with 5 years).
• Proven track record of technical leadership in sizing primary aircraft structures in both metallic and composite materials.
• Experience with stress analysis using classical methods and finite‑element analysis.
• Ability to work independently under pressure to meet global project milestones.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
