Software Engineer – Java/Python Development

About the role

Aspect Capital is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Software Development team in London. You will use technology to solve business problems and help deliver the firm’s ambitious plans in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new features across systems built with Java, Python and MATLAB, integrating with proprietary trading platforms and SaaS providers.
• Apply industry best practices such as test‑driven development, CI/CD pipelines and monitoring.
• Learn the specifics of the financial markets Aspect trades and the supporting business processes.
• Stay current with technology trends and represent the team at conferences and meet‑ups.
• Make meaningful contributions from the first week on the job.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of professional software engineering experience, taking requirements from concept to production.
• Strong collaborative and communication skills with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• No prior financial‑markets experience required; training will be provided.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Java (preferred) and willingness to work with or learn Python.
• Experience or familiarity with MATLAB.
• Knowledge of cloud and container technologies such as AWS, Docker and Kubernetes (nice to have).
