Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant – Balsall Heath

About the role
This full‑time position supports a small group of pupils within a specialist Resource Base at a primary school in Balsall Heath, Birmingham. You will work Monday to Friday with an early finish at 12:30 pm each Friday, delivering personalised learning and care for children with complex needs.
Key responsibilities
- Support a small group of pupils with severe learning difficulties, non‑verbal autism and other complex needs.
- Collaborate with the class teacher and specialist staff to plan and deliver engaging, tailored lessons.
- Provide one‑to‑one assistance to help pupils meet individual learning and developmental goals.
- Assist with personal care tasks, ensuring dignity and respect for each child.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and communicate updates to the teaching team.
Required profile
- Level 3 Early Years qualification (essential).
- Valid Paediatric or Emergency First Aid certification.
- Experience working in an Early Years setting, preferably with SEN pupils.
- Demonstrated experience supporting children with autism and complex needs.
- Confidence in providing personal care where required.
- Calm, nurturing and patient approach with strong communication and teamwork skills.
