Specialist One-to-One Study Skills Support (Autism)

About the role
We are seeking a Specialist One‑to‑One Study Skills Support worker to provide personalised academic guidance to university students with autism, funded through the Disabled Students Allowance. The role is part‑time, flexible and based in Birmingham for the 2026/2027 academic year.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver individual learning plans tailored to each student’s needs.
- Teach independence, organisation, time‑management and research strategies.
- Support reading, writing and comprehension skills, including proper referencing.
- Monitor progress and adjust action plans to keep students on track.
Required profile
- Minimum undergraduate degree (Level 6) and a recognised teaching qualification.
- Completed training in adult autism – e.g., 6 National Autistic Society modules or the Optimum Training Course on Autism and ADHD in Higher Education.
- Experience working with autistic learners is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational abilities.
Required skills
- Knowledge of autism support strategies and non‑medical helper mentoring.
- Ability to create and manage caseloads of students.
