Staff Engineer, Digital Infrastructure (R5602)

About the role

ShieldAI has built a software factory that creates, optimises, evaluates and analyses autonomy solutions for modern warfighting problems. The Staff Engineer will support the deployment, integration, maintenance and development of this factory for autonomy teams and customers operating in isolated and specialised environments.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with a small team of engineers and administrators.
• Integrate the AI training factory and tooling onto new hardware platforms.
• Provide software updates and configuration management across isolated environments.
• Ensure reliable operation of the AI training factory and associated tooling.
• Coordinate with autonomy teams to meet technical requirements.
• Solve challenging, high‑impact problems.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience (or equivalent education/experience).
• 3+ years of cloud computing architecture experience, especially Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Experience supporting C++ or Python‑based applications.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix networking and design of networked applications.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Proven ability to debug and troubleshoot distributed systems and to develop automation tooling such as Ansible, Chef or Puppet.
