Staff Nurse – Registered General Nurse

About the role

The Staff Nurse provides high‑quality clinical care within Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust’s prison health service. Working across primary care, medication administration and emergency response, you will support the health and wellbeing of inmates in a secure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver acute and primary care, including long‑term condition management, immunisations, wound care and health promotion.
• Run daily clinics, triage urgent cases and provide routine primary‑care services.
• Administer medications safely and accurately.
• Respond to emergencies on prison wings, in healthcare areas and communal spaces.
• Supervise, mentor and support junior staff, students and unregistered personnel.
• Uphold Trust values and the NMC Code of Conduct in all interactions.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse (NMC registration) with the ability to exercise professional autonomy.
• Strong decision‑making skills and ability to apply evidence‑based nursing practice.
• Commitment to delivering patient‑centred care in a secure setting.
