About the role

The Survey Manager will develop and implement survey systems across the project, ensuring data quality and avoiding unnecessary duplication of effort. The role involves coordinating with subcontractors, managing safety, programme, cost and environmental risks, and delivering final survey deliverables to the client.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with subcontractors, advise and periodically check their survey works and records.
  • Ensure subcontractors comply with survey specifications, processes and procedures.
  • Identify and manage safety, programme, cost, environmental and community risks related to surveying.
  • Review subcontractors' as‑built surveys and ensure works align with design.
  • Process and analyse all data acquisition correctly and keep control points up to date.
  • Provide updated control point lists to relevant parties and advise on regular checks of the main control network.
  • Raise non‑conformances to the Engineering Lead and agree corrective actions promptly.
  • Attend meetings with subcontractors' engineering/surveying teams for verification surveys.
  • Participate in survey collaboration meetings and prepare brief updates.
  • Review survey reports and ensure final deliverables are accepted by the client.
  • Maintain a survey equipment register with calibration and adjustment information.
  • Manage supply‑chain surveyors.

Required profile

  • Proven experience in a similar survey management role within a suitably sized engineering organisation.
  • Degree or higher in a numerate discipline (typically engineering) or equivalent experience.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional body.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation relevant to construction (e.g., Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, CDM Regulations 2015, Construction Health, Safety and Welfare Regulations 1996).
