Syndicate Accountant

About the role

We are partnering with a London‑based insurance and financial services organisation to hire a qualified Syndicate Accountant. You will support regulatory and financial reporting activities across managed syndicates, ensuring accurate accounting records and compliance with Lloyd’s and Solvency II requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain syndicate accounting records and reconciliations.
• Produce quarterly and annual regulatory and financial reports.
• Support Solvency UK and Lloyd’s reporting requirements.
• Assist with financial analysis, variance commentary, and management information.
• Liaise with auditors, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes and automation.
• Support system enhancements and implementation of process improvements.
• Mentor and guide junior finance team members.
• Assist with ad‑hoc finance and project work as required.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Previous experience within insurance or the Lloyd’s market preferred.
• Strong understanding of financial and regulatory reporting.
• Experience preparing reconciliations and financial analysis.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem solving.
