Systems and Controls Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Systems and Controls Engineer to develop programming standards, design and deliver LabVIEW and PLC control systems, and support production testing and automation across our hydraulic motion‑control business.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage programming standards and methodology for manufacturing and testing control systems.
• Design, develop, document and deliver internal training programmes for LabVIEW and PLC control systems.
• Create LabVIEW and PLC programs to test and evaluate component performance and to control production testing equipment.
• Collaborate with design engineers and automation teams to develop automated test solutions and electro‑hydraulic control systems.
• Produce internal documentation, specifications, schematics and wiring diagrams to company standards.
• Liaise with suppliers to define product specifications, purchase equipment and evaluate quality.
• Design, build, test and commission control systems and hydraulic equipment, executing system test plans and troubleshooting complex issues.
• Support product development by working with multidisciplinary engineering teams and translating customer requirements into practical solutions.

Required profile

• Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation or related discipline.
• Proven experience in controls, automation or systems engineering within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of hydraulic, electro‑hydraulic or automated systems and ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Demonstrated fault‑finding, analytical and problem‑solving skills, with experience taking projects from concept through testing and implementation.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
