Teaching Assistant – Year 2 (Key Stage 1) – Birmingham

About the role

The Catholic Partnership Supply Service (CPSS) is seeking a full‑time Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 class in the Harborne area of Birmingham. The role starts in September and involves five days a week of classroom assistance, primarily for Key Stage 1 pupils.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to Year 2 students.
• Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and delivery.
• Help maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Support pupils with phonics and basic literacy activities.
• Monitor and record student progress as directed.

Required profile

• Experience working with Key Stage 1 pupils, preferably in a Year 2 setting.
• Ability to commit to a full‑time, five‑day week.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and a valid or pending enhanced DBS.
• Qualifications such as Level 2+ teaching assistant, university degree, childcare or health & social care background are considered.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of phonics.
