Team Manager – Children in Care

About the role

The Through Care Service at Bristol City Council is seeking a dedicated Team Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team supporting children and young people aged 0‑25. This full‑time permanent position offers a starting salary of £55,529 and is based in an open‑plan office overlooking the river and Ashton Court.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day leadership to five social workers, two family support workers and an administrator.
• Collaborate with six other managers across the Child in Care Service.
• Lead and contribute to service development projects.
• Ensure children receive the best opportunities and networks throughout their care journey.
• Maintain a whole‑network approach, supporting children’s safety and eventual return home when appropriate.
• Uphold practice underpinned by signs of safety and a systemic approach.

Required profile

• Commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people in care.
• Experience managing social‑work or similar multidisciplinary teams.
• Understanding of the children‑in‑care sector and the importance of whole‑family networks.
• Ability to lead projects and drive service development.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
