Telecoms Field Network Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Telecoms Field Network Engineer to provide 24x7 operational support for utility telecommunications infrastructure across Scotland. The role involves on‑site installation, commissioning, maintenance and fault resolution of critical transmission and data networking systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission and maintain SDH/PDH transmission networks, microwave radio links and utility telecoms equipment.
• Perform fault diagnosis, network monitoring and assure activities to meet SLA commitments.
• Provide emergency response, on‑call rota coverage and shift work for 24 × 7 operations.
• Collaborate with utility teams to ensure safe work around high‑voltage substations and power systems.
• Document work performed and update network inventories.

Required profile

• Proven field engineering experience in telecoms, transmission and data networking environments.
• Strong troubleshooting ability in high‑pressure utility settings.
• Ability to work independently on remote sites across Scotland.
• Willingness to participate in on‑call and emergency response rotations.
