Traffic Operator

About the role

We are seeking two Traffic Operators to join our client’s transport team in Southampton. You will act as a key link between drivers, customers and internal departments, handling reactive haulage requests and ensuring smooth daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily vehicle routes to achieve efficient and timely deliveries.
• Monitor driver schedules and vehicle movements, reacting quickly to delays or operational issues.
• Liaise with drivers, customers and internal teams to provide updates and maintain service levels.
• Ensure compliance with transport legislation, company policies and health & safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate transport records, booking information and operational documentation.

Required profile

• Previous experience in transport, logistics or a traffic operator role (preferred).
• Strong organisational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with drivers, customers and stakeholders.
• Good IT proficiency, including experience with transport management systems and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of driver hours, vehicle compliance and transport regulations is advantageous.
