About the role

DXC Technology is seeking experienced Unix System Administrators to join a platinum‑account team in Cheltenham. You will work on‑site five days a week, providing first‑ and second‑level support, implementing standards and driving continual service improvement.

Key responsibilities

Provide first and second level technical support for incidents and problems.
Monitor overall system performance and ensure smooth functionality.
Create, maintain and utilise documentation.
Assist in building compliance with processes and policies.
Implement standards, policies and procedures for continual service improvement.

Required profile

Excellent organisation and time‑management skills.
Experience working to ITIL best practices.
Proactive approach to identifying risks and root‑cause analysis.
Willingness to share knowledge and learn from others.
Eligibility for SC or DV security clearance, UK nationality and at least 10 years residence in the UK.

Required skills

Proficiency with UNIX/Linux systems (Red Hat, Debian, Solaris, AIX).
Shell scripting (Bash, KornShell).
Infrastructure as Code tools: Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef.
Process and job control (cron, at, systemd timers).
Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS, SSH, FTP).
Filesystem management (LVM, ext4, XFS, ZFS).
Performance tuning and monitoring (top, vmstat, iostat, sar, netstat).
Automation software experience (Ansible, Puppet).
Scripting with Bash, Python and Git.
Exposure to AWS.
Virtualisation and containers (KVM, VMware, Docker, Podman).
