VAT Director / Senior Manager – Tax Advisory

About the role

This senior position sits within a fast‑growing Indirect Tax team, delivering high‑quality VAT advisory and compliance services to a diverse portfolio of corporate clients across multiple sectors. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the team’s growth while handling complex, high‑value assignments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of VAT advisory and compliance clients.
• Provide clear, commercially‑focused VAT advice and liaise with HMRC on technical matters, enquiries and disputes.
• Support transactions such as acquisitions, disposals, restructures and due‑diligence projects.
• Advise on complex VAT issues and negotiate practical solutions.
• Identify new business opportunities, prepare proposals and contribute to business development.
• Deliver VAT training to colleagues and clients.
• Mentor, manage and develop junior team members.

Required profile

• Significant VAT advisory and compliance experience gained within a practice environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK VAT legislation.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver high‑quality advisory work.
• Excellent communication, report writing and problem‑solving skills.
• Commercial mindset with a track record of identifying new business opportunities.
• Experience in managing and developing team members.
• ACA, CTA or equivalent qualifications are desirable but not essential.
