Vehicles Engineer – Rolling Stock Commercial Support

About the role

Transport for London is seeking a Vehicles Engineer to join the Operating Assets – Vehicles Engineering team. The initial assignment will focus on supporting the London Underground Rolling Stock Commercial Support function, providing technical insight for procurement and commercial activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop Technical Requirements Specifications (TRSs) and Technical Product Specifications (TPSs) for rolling‑stock procurement tenders.
• Engage early with the market, deliver presentations and assess supplier capabilities.
• Conduct non‑competitive transaction assessments and support commercial negotiations.
• Provide domain expertise and technical guidance to the Procurement Team throughout the commercial lifecycle.
• Potentially support maintenance, renewal, and assurance activities for LU engineering vehicles and rolling‑stock fleets.

Required profile

• Engineering degree or equivalent technical background.
• Experience in railway or rolling‑stock engineering, preferably within a commercial or procurement context.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to produce clear technical documentation.
• Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.
