Workshop Lead – BMW & MINI Service Team

About the role

Hedin Automotive is seeking a Workshop Lead to head its busy BMW and MINI service workshop. You will work with the full BMW range, using the latest diagnostic and service equipment, and receive ongoing training from the BMW UK Training Academy.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advanced technical support for complex diagnostics and repairs.
• Oversee daily workshop operations, ensuring productivity, workflow efficiency and compliance with BMW standards.
• Conduct quality checks, including RQC inspections and road tests, to maintain high repair standards.
• Manage workshop systems and equipment, such as ISTA updates, tool audits and overall workshop cleanliness.
• Act as the primary technical liaison between the workshop, Service Team Managers and BMW technical teams.
• Mentor technicians and apprentices, delivering 1‑2‑1 coaching and monitoring apprentice development.
• Analyse and distribute job cards, ensuring accurate information, timely progress and clear communication with customers when needed.

Required profile

• Senior Technician with Level 3 ATA/IMI Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance qualification or equivalent.
• Strong technical expertise in the automotive industry, preferably with BMW/MINI experience.
• Proven leadership ability to mentor and motivate a team.
• Proactive, organised and quality‑driven approach to workshop management.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and a clean UK driving licence held for at least one year.
