About the role
The UKRI‑funded ReMake Value Retention Centre (RVRC) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to lead research on circular business models for start‑ups and small firms in high‑integrity engineering sectors. Based at the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland in Glasgow, the role combines remote work with occasional visits to Exeter for team meetings.
Key responsibilities
- Map start‑up and small‑business activity across Glasgow’s renewable energy, transport and manufacturing sectors.
- Analyse existing circular business models to identify economic, environmental and social value opportunities.
- Design and deliver stakeholder workshops and webinars to build circular‑economy expertise.
- Develop practical tools and methods that help businesses adopt circular models.
- Produce case studies on model implementation and the role of digital technologies.
- Collaborate with researchers from Strathclyde, Exeter, Sheffield and industry partners to achieve RVRC objectives.
Required profile
- PhD (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline such as circular economy, sustainability, engineering or business.
- Recognised expertise in circular economy concepts and research methodologies.
- Proven ability to lead research projects, secure funding and present findings at conferences.
- Strong collaborative skills and experience supervising or leading research teams.

What we offer
- Fixed‑term contract (1 Aug 2026 – 30 Sep 2027) with a starting salary of £43,482 per annum (Grade F).
