Year 1 SEND Teaching Assistant – Full-time (Sept 2026 – Apr 2027)

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Birmingham for a Year 1 class. The role runs from September 2026 to April 2027 on a full‑time, term‑time basis, providing vital support to pupils with special educational needs.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1‑to‑1 support for Year 1 pupils with SEND, focusing on learning, communication and social development both inside and outside the classroom.
- Assist with personal care needs of assigned pupils, delivering support with patience and compassion.
- Collaborate closely with the SENDCO and class teacher to implement tailored learning plans and monitor progress.
- Support classroom activities, prepare resources and help maintain a safe, inclusive environment.
Required profile
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or comparable setting.
- Enhanced DBS check (must be on the update service).
- Relevant qualifications or demonstrable experience in special educational needs support.
- Willingness to undertake additional training as required.
Required skills
- Ability to deliver individualized learning sessions.
- Competence in providing personal care safely.
- Effective communication and teamwork with teachers and SENDCO.
What we offer
- Full‑time, term‑time only contract from September 2026 to April 2027.
- Competitive daily rate (£92.56 – £100).
