1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Plymouth)

About the role

This full‑time, term‑time position supports a single pupil with special educational needs in a mainstream primary school in Plymouth. The assistant works closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver a personalised learning experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support for a pupil with SEN (e.g., ASD, ADHD).
• Adapt learning activities to match the child’s individual needs.
• Assist with emotional regulation and implement positive behaviour strategies.
• Collaborate with the teacher and SENCO to meet EHCP targets.
• Encourage independence, engagement and social interaction.

Required profile

• Patient, nurturing and empathetic approach.
• Experience supporting children with SEN in a school or care setting.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff and families.
• Calm, resilient and adaptable personality.
• Genuine passion for making a positive impact on children with additional needs.
