About the role
Plessey is expanding rapidly and needs a dedicated 1st Line IT Infrastructure Support Technician to be the primary point of contact for day‑to‑day IT support across the business. The role is based on‑site at the manufacturing facility, supporting both office and production environments, with occasional remote support for other sites.
Key responsibilities
- Log, triage and resolve 1st line IT tickets, calls and walk‑ups, meeting agreed SLAs.
- Provide first‑line support for user accounts, Microsoft 365, Windows/macOS devices, software, printers, AV and mobile devices.
- Set up, configure and deploy end‑user devices using Microsoft Intune and Autopilot.
- Support IT systems and devices on the manufacturing floor, adhering to FAB safety and environmental requirements.
- Act as the on‑site IT point of contact for manufacturing, engineering and business stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate IT asset and CMDB records throughout the device lifecycle.
- Provide remote 1st line support to other Plessey sites and travel for on‑site assistance when needed.
- Document support procedures, create knowledge articles and escalate complex issues with full diagnostics.
- Assist with onboarding new starters, including account setup, device provisioning and IT inductions.
- Follow IT security policies, including patching, password management and data handling.
Required profile
- Proven experience in a 1st line IT support or service‑desk role.
- Strong working knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems.
- Confident, professional communicator comfortable working with manufacturing and engineering stakeholders.
- Well‑organised with the ability to manage high ticket volumes and competing priorities.
- Genuine interest in progressing to 2nd line and eventually 3rd line or specialist infrastructure work.

- Core networking concepts (DHCP, DNS, Wi‑Fi, VPN)
- ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus or similar ITSM tool
- PowerShell scripting
- CompTIA A+
- CompTIA Network+
- Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator
