Academic Tutor in Digital Business

About the role

Edu Connect is looking for an Academic Tutor in Digital Business to join its academic team, reporting to the Director of Learning and Development. The tutor delivers high-quality teaching, contributes to curriculum development and carries out research that strengthens both theory and practice in business management. The position is based in South Tyneside, Tyne and Wear, with a salary of £25,500-£31,500.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver online lectures, seminars and workshops across business management programmes
• Use inclusive teaching practices to promote active learning and student engagement
• Supervise research projects and independent study from level 4 and above
• Develop and update business management modules and courses in line with industry standards
• Incorporate digital tools, experiential learning and case studies into teaching
• Pursue research aimed at publication in academic journals and conferences, and seek external funding and industry partnerships
• Take part in professional development, build links with industry professionals and encourage students to apply theory to real-world problems
• Mentor, tutor and give assessment feedback, and help with administration, advisory meetings, assessment centres and recruitment
• Comply with Edu Connect's policies on teaching, research and student management

Required profile

• Master's degree in Business Management or a related discipline
• Proven teaching experience in further or higher education
• Strong research profile with publications or potential for impactful research
• Ability to teach innovatively and inclusively, in person and online
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, and commitment to professional development

Desirable

• Doctoral degree (or near completion) in Business Management or a related field
• Industry experience in business management
• Membership of professional bodies such as the Chartered Management Institute or the Academy of Management
• Teaching certification, PGCE or other recognised education qualification
• Familiarity with LMS and e-learning platforms such as Canvas and Blackboard
