Accountant – Hybrid role in Lancaster, £40k-£45k

About the role

Based in Lancaster’s modern offices, this hybrid accountant position offers flexibility, autonomy and clear pathways for career progression. You will work with a varied portfolio of clients, acting as a trusted advisor while supporting junior team members.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients across multiple sectors.
• Review year‑end accounts and corporation tax returns.
• Prepare and review self‑assessment tax returns.
• Provide personal and corporate tax advice.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and nurture long‑term relationships.
• Handle HMRC queries and correspondence.
• Review and support work completed by junior staff.
• Plan workloads to meet deadlines and report portfolio performance to senior leaders.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified, or equivalent experience with a strong practice background.
• Proven experience managing a client portfolio independently.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts and tax.
• Confident using cloud‑based accounting software.
• Excellent relationship‑building and problem‑solving abilities.
• Organised, proactive and able to stay calm under pressure.
• Enjoys supporting and developing team members.

• Salary £40,000‑£45,000 per year, dependent on experience.
