Accounts Assistant – Management Accounts Exposure & AAT Study

About the role

We are looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our finance team in Dukinfield. The role offers hands‑on responsibility for day‑to‑day transaction processing and immediate involvement in the management accounts cycle alongside the Financial Controller.

Key responsibilities

• Process purchase invoices, sales invoices and bank reconciliations to keep the general ledger up to date.
• Prepare month‑end journal entries and ensure accurate posting.
• Collaborate with the Financial Controller to produce management accounts and variance analysis.
• Support the preparation of statutory reports and assist with audit schedules.
• Participate in an AAT study programme to develop further accounting qualifications.

Required profile

• Proven experience in transactional accounting within a small‑to‑medium business.
• Desire to progress into management accounting and willingness to study for AAT.
• Ability to work autonomously while maintaining close communication with senior leadership.
• Comfortable working on‑site five days a week in Dukinfield.

Required skills

• AAT (or commitment to study for the qualification).
