Accounts Assistant – Payroll & General Accounting

About the role

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to support a well‑established client’s finance team on a temporary‑to‑permanent basis. The role combines payroll processing with core accounts duties, offering a solid entry point for candidates with recent finance experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with payroll processing and timesheet management.
• Maintain accurate payroll and financial records.
• Support purchase and sales ledger activities.
• Process invoices, perform bank reconciliations, and update ledger entries.
• Use Microsoft Excel to analyse and manage financial data.
• Provide general administrative support to the finance team.

Required profile

• Recent experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role.
• Exposure to payroll processing or related functions.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to start immediately or within two weeks.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUP functions).

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £13‑£14.
• Office‑based role, approximately 37.5 hours per week.
• Potential for permanent placement after the temporary period.
