Accounts Assistant – Watford

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Accounts Assistant to join our fast‑paced finance team in Watford. The role provides exposure to a wide range of accounting activities and is ideal for someone studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA who wants to develop their career.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with weekly cash‑flow reporting and payment runs.
• Monitor and manage the finance inbox.
• Post sales invoices, purchase invoices and credit notes onto Sage.
• Support monthly and quarterly close processes.
• Ensure invoices and supporting documentation are authorised in line with company procedures.
• Check bank statements and maintain cashbooks across multiple currencies, including e‑commerce sales.
• Perform monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations and VAT reconciliations.
• Prepare and maintain monthly Excel reports and schedules.
• Support monthly cash‑flow forecasting and assist with annual budgeting activities.
• Provide ad‑hoc finance and administrative support to the Financial Controller.

Required profile

• Studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA.
• Minimum 2 years' finance experience within industry or an accountancy practice.
• Good understanding of double‑entry bookkeeping.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and enthusiasm.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
