Accounts & Business Advisory Manager

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading UK accountancy practice as the Accounts & Business Advisory Services Manager in Manchester. You will shape a growing service line, build a high‑performing team and work closely with senior leadership to expand the firm’s presence in the region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and growth of the Manchester ABAS team.
• Build and manage a portfolio of owner‑managed businesses, delivering high‑quality advisory, compliance and accounting services.
• Drive business development, identify new client opportunities and secure contracts.
• Develop strong relationships with intermediaries, professional contacts and the local business community.
• Ensure work is delivered to a high technical standard, on time and within budget.
• Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to develop an engaged team.
• Maintain compliance with accounting, audit, tax and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with partners and the wider leadership team on strategic growth initiatives.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience).
• Strong background within a UK accountancy practice.
• Excellent technical knowledge of accounting and audit standards.
• Commercially focused with a proven ability to win work and develop client relationships.
• Confident networker within the Manchester business community.
• Natural leader with experience developing and mentoring teams.
• Ambitious, proactive and motivated to build something new.
