Accounts Semi‑Senior / Senior Accountant

About the role

Butler Rose is a growing independent accountancy practice looking for an ambitious accountant to join its team in Braintree. This role is ideal for an ACCA finalist or AAT Level 4 qualified professional who wants to manage a varied client portfolio and help develop junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for limited companies.
• Complete corporation tax computations and returns.
• Prepare personal tax returns for a diverse client base.
• Manage day‑to‑day compliance work for assigned clients.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships as a primary point of contact.
• Support and mentor a junior team member, developing a client pod.
• Ensure work is accurate and delivered within agreed deadlines.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver excellent client service.

Required profile

• ACCA finalist or AAT Level 4 qualification (minimum).
• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
• Strong experience preparing limited company accounts.
• Good knowledge of corporation tax and personal tax compliance.
• Confidence managing a mixed portfolio of clients.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff (advantageous).
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Proactive attitude with a genuine desire to develop and progress.
