Accounts Senior/Manager – Independent, Hybrid

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Accounts Senior/Manager to join an independent accounting practice in Colchester. Working in a hybrid setting, you will partner with senior partners to deliver high‑quality financial reporting, compliance and advisory services for a diverse client portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of statutory financial statements under IFRS and UK GAAP.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Provide technical accounting guidance to junior staff and clients on complex issues.
• Conduct detailed financial analysis, variance reporting and cash‑flow forecasting to support client decision‑making.
• Prepare management accounts, KPI dashboards and board‑level reports.
• Liaise directly with clients to gather data, clarify treatments and resolve audit or reporting queries.
• Support audit and tax teams with accurate documentation and resolve technical discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with the Companies Act, VAT regulations and other relevant legislation.
• Identify business‑development opportunities and contribute to service‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Full ACA or ACCA membership.
• Post‑qualification experience in accounting, tax or advisory within a reputable firm.
• Proven ability to manage month‑end/year‑end processes for multiple clients.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
