Advanced Clinical Pharmacist – Band 8a (Staff Bank)

About the role

North East London Foundation Trust is recruiting Advanced Clinical Pharmacists (Band 8a) to join its staff bank. The role will support mental health and community health services across London, delivering clinical pharmacy and dispensary services in both inpatient and community settings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a clinical ward pharmacy service to mental health and community health inpatient wards and community teams.
• Support medicines optimisation initiatives, ensuring high‑quality medicine use, risk management and adherence to policies.
• Contribute to clinical audits, quality‑improvement projects and value‑for‑money initiatives related to medicines spend.
• Develop and deliver pharmacy‑related training for medical, nursing and pharmacy staff.
• Work with quality and patient‑safety teams to review pharmacy‑related risk management issues.
• Line‑manage and mentor a rotational Band 6/7 pharmacist, conducting regular 1:1s, appraisals and supervision.
• Participate in the provision of dispensary services as required.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Experience in mental health and/or community health pharmacy settings.
• Ability to lead and mentor junior pharmacy staff.
• Strong understanding of medicines optimisation, clinical governance and risk management.
• Willingness to engage in audit, training and quality‑improvement activities.
