Aerodynamics Engineer – Aircraft Wing Design

About the role

Join Airbus’s Aerodynamics Team in Filton to help design and optimise the wings of future aircraft. You will work on all stages of aerodynamic development, from research and concept design through to testing and in‑service support.

Key responsibilities

• Design aerodynamic external shapes and conduct design trades to meet aircraft requirements.
• Perform CFD campaigns, create and validate aerodynamic load models, and manage wind‑tunnel and flight‑test data.
• Run unsteady CFD simulations and develop innovative processes for aero‑load modelling.
• Support in‑service and industrial concessions by answering aerodynamics queries.

Required profile

• Passion for aircraft with solid experience in aerodynamics.
• Willingness to travel internationally.
• Experience in CFD, CAD (CATIA or 3DExperience) and Python programming.

Required skills

• Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling.
• CAD tools such as CATIA, 3DExperience.
• Python programming.
• Experimental fluid dynamics (wind‑tunnel testing) – desirable.
• Knowledge of CADFIX, Solar, ANSA, Tau, CODA – desirable.
• Data‑science techniques including neural networks and deep learning – desirable.
