After School Club Assistant

About the role
The After School Club Assistant will join an outstanding primary school in Tooting, supporting children during the after‑school club. You will help create a safe, stimulating and enjoyable environment for pupils of all ages while working alongside a dedicated team.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and engage children from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday‑Friday.
- Plan, organise and deliver a range of age‑appropriate activities.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children at all times.
- Support inclusive practice for mixed‑ability and diverse pupils.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to align club activities with school policies.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and incidents.
- Uphold safeguarding procedures and report concerns promptly.
Required profile
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Two professional child‑related references covering the last two years.
- GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C/4 or equivalent.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and behaviour‑management skills.
- Flexible, adaptable and committed to safeguarding.
Required skills
- Ability to manage group behaviour and create engaging activities.
- Understanding of inclusive practice and supporting diverse learners.
- Basic numeracy and literacy to assist children with homework.
- Awareness of safeguarding policies and procedures.
What we offer
- Competitive daily rate of £50‑£55, dependent on experience.
- 15 hours per week (term‑time only, 38 weeks per year).
